Back in December of 2016, Pantone’s color “Greenery” (15-0343) was named 2017’s Color of the Year. So, by this time, it’s definitely trending in home and personal fashion. The news releases announcing the color’s choice emphasized the color’s psychological associations with hope, renewal, and promise— very fitting for a time which seems to many chaotic, uncertain, and fractious.
It seems like every spring and summer, whether christened “Color of the Year” or no, bright and pale greens, yellows, and assorted citrus and summery hues get thrown into the mix of fashion. The warmer seasons beg for a lightening up; for growth; for our lives to match somehow the effervescent and burgeoning natural world in all its spring and summer glory.
Best yet, and perhaps, unexpectedly, this bright and light green can actually form a really great “neutral” background in the home. After all, the natural world is full of things set against a background of green. It’s really difficult to argue with the evolutionary wisdom of the universe. Of course, choose accents on the brighter and more saturated side of spring green and it can pop visually against your existing furnishings and clothing.
